How do I know if I need knee replacement surgery?

There are many potential treatments for knee pain, including physical therapy, pain medication and injections. But if these treatments are not effective, it may be time to consider surgery.

What kind of knee replacement surgery is available?

No two knees are alike, which is why Dr. Minardi uses the TruMatch™ system. This advanced technology uses a 3-D scan of your leg to create a custom surgical guide based on your anatomy. It’s like having a custom blueprint for your new knee.

How does the TruMatch system differ from other knee replacements?

A customized knee replacement solution designed to fit your body is far superior to the old off-the-shelf approach. The long-term success of your knee replacement depends on proper positioning of the new knee. After your 3-D scan is completed, it is sent to the manufacturer to be used in the creation of custom guides, which are delivered to your surgeon to be used during your surgery. The result is a perfectly matched, perfectly placed new knee for optimum recovery. The actual performance of your knee replacement depends on age, weight, activity level and other factors.

STEP 1

A CT scan is taken of your leg at the hospital. The structure of your knee is analyzed and your personalized guides are created.

STEP 2

The image is sent to the knee joint manufacturer where a special team works with Dr. Minardi to develop a 3-D model of your knee.

STEP 3

The structure of your knee is analyzed and your personalized guides are created for optimum placement of your knee replacement.

STEP 4

Your guides are delivered to your surgeon the day of your surgery to help position and place your new knee implant. The guides are removed prior to your new knee being implanted.
