Intensive Care Unit

Our ICU provides the highest level of care

When you or your loved one requires a higher level of care, our Intensive Care Unit is there to provide continuous care and monitoring. A high staff-to-patient ratio, advanced medical technology and a specially trained medical staff ensures that patients in the ICU will get the appropriate specialized and intensive care required. All staff members have certification in advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support.

What amenities does the ICU contain?

Our ICU features spacious private rooms with phone, television and bedside bathroom facilities. State-of-the-art hemodynamic monitors provide continuous monitoring for blood pressure, cardiac rhythm interpretation and blood oxygen saturation. Our goal is to exceed our patients’ expectations by carrying out our mission of providing quality and compassionate health services.

What are some of the ways you keep a family-friendly atmosphere?

We encourage your family and friends to visit. We understand that a healthy social network is vital to your well-being. However, only two visitors at a time are allowed in the ICU. Visitors who have a contagious illness, such as a cold or fever, must refrain from visiting until symptoms have subsided. This is important to protect our patients. Sleeper chairs are provided to accommodate one family member to stay over with a child or seriously ill patient. Call ahead at 815-876-2287 before visiting an ICU patient. Quiet times, during which no visitors are allowed, will be shared when you call. If you are already in the hospital, dial 2287 to speak with an ICU nurse. What if a slightly lower level of care is required?

This unit also provides Intermediate Care, which is located adjacent to the ICU. Intermediate Care is provided to patients who have a need for more medical care than most medical patients, but who do not require the Intensive Care Unit.
